About Anat Baniel Method

About ABM2The Anat Baniel Method (ABM) is a dynamic system for supporting the brain in forming new connections that increase mobility and functionality in people with movement challenges.

The Method has proven to be effective, frequently resulting in outcomes originally believed impossible for a wide range of people including children with special needs, athletes, high performers, people suffering from pain and limitation, and older adults.

“Different from other rehabilitation, fitness practices, and approaches to help children with special needs in their development being done today, ABM involves a significant shift in the way we think of ourselves as human beings, replacing the traditional model of people as a mechanical system with the view of people as an intelligence, information-based system moderated by the brain.
…instead of being limited by muscle performance you are freed up to use the growth potential of your unlimited brain as the tool for your body’s and mind’s healing, rehabilitation and development.”

About Anat Baniel

timthumbAnat Baniel began developing her work under the guidance of Moshe Feldenkrais, who saw in her a special talent, particularly for her work with children. As a student of both psychology and dance, Anat recognized Feldenkrais’ genius and set out to better understand his work and the source of it’s power.

Anat has clarified the relationship between structural function and mental capacity and refined the movement, touch and teaching of the work. She is an independent thinker, and a strong believer in the possibility and value of upgrading human function.

Her conceptualization of the 9 Essentials, the result of her years of working directly with children and adults, is supported by the research of neuroscientists.

Anat has a real sense of possibility for others. Her work and teaching are inspired by a profound appreciation for the elegance and beauty in people who grow and evolve.

NeuroMovement

kneeNeuroMovement, a term coined by Anat Baniel, is a highly evolved system of movement.

Sometimes facilitated by touch and based on the understanding that movement is not confined to the movement that we perform in space, NeuroMovement also describes the action within our brain. Thought, emotion, and sensation are forms of movement.

The Anat Baniel Method utilizes NeuroMovement, along with the 9 Essentials, to interact with the highly complex human system in order to support our brain’s ability to self organize.

A better organized brain processes information, makes sense of input from our environment, and facilitates more creative, well functioning lives.

The 9 Essentials

From her work with children and adults, Anat Baniel distilled the 9 Essentials for learning, the qualities of mind and tools that are necessary for the brain to build life enhancing neuro connections. As you learn to employ these 9 Essentials you are making it possible for your child and yourselves to overcome limitations and thrive. The brain can change, growing new pathways throughout your life.
